Anesthesiologist (for procedures with conscious sedation)

About the Service
Endoscopy Department
Endoscopy is a non-invasive method for examining the interior of the digestive system using a flexible instrument, the endoscope, which is equipped with a camera. It allows for direct visual inspection and the collection of samples (biopsy) for further laboratory analysis.
At Alea Dr. Kandić, the endoscopic unit is used for early diagnosis as well as for minor therapeutic interventions, such as polyp removal or stopping bleeding.



Who is the service intended for?
An endoscopic examination is recommended for individuals who have:
Frequent stomach pains, burning sensation in the esophagus, reflux
Swallowing difficulties (dysphagia)
Unexplained vomiting, nausea, bloating
Changes in stool (blood, constipation, diarrhea)
Loss of appetite and weight without a clear cause
Hereditary factors for digestive system diseases
The need for a follow-up on previous findings (polyps, gastritis, ulcer, etc.)

Standard endoscopic procedures
Gastroscopy – examination of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum
Duodenoscopy – a detailed examination of the duodenum and bile ducts
Colonoscopy – examination of the large intestine up to the cecum
Rectoscopy – examination of the final part of the colon
Anoscopy – examination of the anus and rectum
Treatments and Additional Procedures
Endoscopy at the patient's request (possible sedation under the supervision of an anesthesiologist)
Removal of polyps of all sizes and locations
Stopping gastrointestinal bleeding
Biopsies with a pathohistological finding (results within 3 business days)
Taking swabs and targeted samples for Helicobacter pylori and other infections
